Title: Neighborhood project
Post by: ErikC on February 18, 2011, 01:35:55 PM
This was the view down our road yesterday. ::) A big grey pine uprooted and blocked it. I got there just after someone else who lives in the area, she headed back to her place for some helpers, and I went back to mine for a saw and my helper ;D. I was in Sarah's car, which does better in the snow and ice but she doesn't carry a saw on board :D With 4 people dragging and rolling rounds it took just over ab hour, there were a lot of trunks and limbs in that big ol' girl.
It snowed about two more inches while we worked. The little guy in the 3rd picture is Aiden, 3 years old. He helped where he could, never complained and minded every word we said about staying out of the way etc, then said to me "thanks for helping us", at the end.  :) Too bad there's not more kids like him around.

That's cool to see a kid with that attitude.
Several years ago I happened on a similar scene, I had my saw with me because I had to cut a tree to get out of my drive. Just as I made the last cut on the tree blocking the road a young lady asked if she could help move the logs. I said that is a very nice offer but I think I'll use my truck. Pushed the logs out of the way with the plow on my truck. I did appreciate her offer but I had cut that tree into three 16 foot sections! I'm not sure how she thought the two of us could move those logs!!

Absolutely right Magicman, and I have to brag a little here, I have 2 nephews close by that would do the same for anyone, one is 14 and the other is 6, they're both "go to ers"
