My $50.00 whack of walnut logs.....
« on: August 05, 2018, 10:13:21 AM »
Bought these 5 logs from a guy close to me who sells firewood.
He lets me have them pretty reasonable and doesn't have to cut
them into firewood. They are given to him by construction crews
clearing land.
These have more sapwood than I like but should make some
nice slabs. The longest one is 14ftX19in and shortest is 12ft.

Just mill out the sap wood into a separate product.  A (redwood) lumber yard out here is now selling  "blond redwood" at a premium price! ::)  You could corner the market on "blond walnut"! :D

I flat sawed the smallest log to 5/4  live edge and sold it to a
repeat customer for $65.00. He wanted it to make head-boards
for beds. So I don't have anything in the other 4 logs.
