My Poulan 380 revs high, overheats, and the carb adjustments seem to make very little difference. Could this be bad crank seals or a cracked cylinder? Thought someone with more experience working on saws may have some ideas. Thanks.

When it first started to rev high, did it come and go? Matter if the saw was up right,on it side? My Hushy 372 started to rev on it's own. I did not want to fry it,from running lean, and had it fixed,$250 latter.

Seems to rev when upright. Slows and power loss when on its side.

Sounds like seals but could be impulse line cracked, intake boot tore. Seen them all on that model 380, 3750, smaller bore 330 3450.

Thanks again. I'll do some more checking.

It's getting too much air.  Check for cracked intake boot or loose carb.

Most every one of this series saw I work on the impulse line was bad.  That is one of the first things I check.  Actually I just replace them 3/32" X 3/16" black rubber fuel line.  Gets too hot for Tygon.  Doesn't hold up for this use.
