Congrats, MS!  You're gonna love it!  I'd like to upgrade to the 10 but I guess I should make some money with my 8 first...at least that's what my wife says! ;) ;D

Remember: pics or it's not true. :)

Heh MS! Congrats on your new 10-30. I got my 10-30 2 years ago this coming May 1st, I know how you feel. Its hard work but love every aspect of sawing. Just a few things to set up to make sure everything goes smooth.  Place your end frames inside the decals, this will reduce your horizontal bounce. Make sure your rails are perfectly horizontal. Never cut more than 5" horizontally in one pass. Make sure you use anti-sieze on your sawblade bolts. You wont need water lubricant unless cutting resinous wood which sticks to the blade. Keep your teeth sharp, it dont take but a few seconds to do. Metal detect or you will regret it, unless all you cut is virgin wood.

There are a few tricks but you will learn them as you go. Never never force the sawhead. Light to medium pressure is all thats needed, otherwise something is pinched. Be careful vertically cutting small to medium logs because they get terribly unstable past the halfway point.

Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck; Ernie

Congrats on your new mill!  If you haven't already seen this post, Sigidi gives some good advice about how he holds logs in portable and more stationary settings.

Sig's being modest, if he doesn't have the answers it's only because we haven't thought of the questions. ;) ;D :D

It's my turn to chime in and back up Sigidi's skill on the Lucas. He has really got me out of a few tight spots.  Plus MM has done it all!  Im a real novice compared to those 2 veteran sawyers.
