I found a 044 stihl  today at the pawn shop needed a new chain , starter rope , and a clutch spring . Runs good I think this will be my new favorite landing saw . I think its a 10 mm serial # 127xxxxx . It will go well with my 55 rancher and 270 stihl . Gearbox
A bunch of chainsaws a BT6870 processer , TC 5 International track skidder and not near enough time

A good 70cc saw that's for sure, if its a newer model it will even have a little boost in hp.  8)
Not sure which came first, but I have chickens and eggs.

;D Good for you, great find.

Yes good find . Look at the saws cylinder head and if the fins on top are at an angle then it's a 10mm.
I heard legends of a short 10mm run on the assembly line with the newer straight fin cylinder but I think that's just a legend :D
Very good saw. I still have my early 1989 044AV it's been a very good reliable saw for me.. One of the first 044s introduced late 1988.
