Do you have a plow mount on the front of the SXS? you could easily build a platform that connects to the plow mount and use the winch to raise and lower it.

You Could make it easy to take off or make it so when not in use it can flip up against the front of the machine and act as a brush guard.

Drive up to the can, roll it on, lift it up drive to next one do it again then drop them at roadside.

Right there beside the Fibrications of Rancid Crabtree, the works of McManus and just before the  writings of  Zern, one might find Tall Tales and Elongations of Truth: A Collection of Hysterical Recollections of the Forestry Forumites.  With special hunting tales by H. Green and fishing escapades by R. Milton.

Sawmills and Milling / Re: Sawing fir (no... spruce)

Finished sawing the logs. Considering all of the knots, not as bad as I thought but still a few waves. I figure Ill tell the customer that those are strategically placed to allow enhanced air flow while drying if the boards are edge to edge.  ffcheesy ffcheesy ( just kidding)
Because the trees were just felled this spring I was worried that the sap would be bad but it wasn't. Definitely not as bad as White Pine.
Spruce is the lightest wood I have ever sawn. Even wet it was really easy to move around. I can see why Howard Hughes selected it to build the "Spruce Goose". Ended up with about 560bf.

Looking at this photo, I realized that I will need to do something similar with a ridge beam and purlins. Since I'm planning to use 6x8 rafters, there's not enough width for me to flush mount consecutive purlins. I don't really want to stagger the spacing. I'm planning to use 2" board sheathing on the diagonal.

Can you explain how you fasten the purlins to the rafter in this photo?

Thanks!

I laid this one by as finished this morning, but I had previously overestimated what I thought the bf count would be.

We had two logs to saw this morning in about 2 hours:

This morning's logs which yielded 810 bf.

13- 2X8's, 30- 2X6's, and 5- 2X4's.

Another whack of mostly 2X6's and 2X8's sawed this week.

The total tally for the job was 7643 bf.

I hope that I am looking out my front window when they light that slab teepee off.  :shocked2:

The proper term is "Historical recollections" and if we printed them all in a binder they would be found in the Non-fiction, reference materials".

Well what I didn't tell was on the 7 May again was called to come and get it. Drove a 120 mi. And started training and noticed no chair mounted, no Hd Guides, however Debarker was tripping circuit breaker. Had them order me the Guides and mount the chair returned home without Mill. To ease the pain they gave me a 15 box of blades and will deliver Mill when fixed. Nice folks but need to checkout things closer. The issue here was caused 100% by Wood Mizer's lack of quality control, what happened to " we run every Mill before shipping".

What I was thinking with John's bicycle log arch, is a hook on the bar going through bike cranks of the arch to slip under the pickup bar on the trash can:

It should easily cart 2 cans, but maybe make hooks slide on bar, so moving 1 can will not be unbalanced.

Well, that looks familiar!

If you left the back open and fabbed up a hanging platform? On the front a hitch?

It is easy!  for one thing.   ffcheesy   I did the same thing.  I was even a little rude to the WM tech that tested and told me the battery was normal and good.  Had to apologize.  the wire made a sparky sound when I wiggled it so gave it a pull test.  same thing.
