Actually, Partstree shows a 2101 cylinder kit available  for $420.52 .

It's not available ZJ.

This kind of error has to do with how places like Parts Tree operate. They sell a lot of parts, but they don't stock all that much stuff. Much of what they do is process orders and re-ship or drop ship from the OEM. They tend to lag way behind as far as showing the availability of parts like that. If someone tries to order one, the Parts Tree site would probably be updated.

Not milling, but buried in this video is the 56mm tuned to 13000 doing its thing.....jump about half way through the vid.

Stuck this vid together for a subscriber who wanted video evidence of how I described what I do to take down Ask to minimize pulling the heart out. It was a cold windy afternoon but rushed though the process with predictable results.. :) (Sometimes habits are a good thing)

This subject brings up a question I'm not sure of .It seems Husqvarna and Partner made saws of about the same design ,as well as concrete saws .It seems the later has cylinders on sale often .Would one of these be a replacement perhaps ?

I really have little experiance with larger Partner or Husqvarna .I only own two,The McCulloch version of the P100 Partner and a 2100 Husky .Both oddly enough are the same bore and stroke .

I would never put a collectable or favorite saw in a milling operation again. I did with a McCulloch 797 and regretted it. BTW probably the best option for milling if added to the options here! over 100cc's and enough of an oiling system to handle the 36 inch B&C I used. Certainly not going to put my hobby 298 in that type of service!

Yeah, I totally agree.  :)

The 298 does belong in the "collection" category. It's probably done more than it's share of hard work over the years. Those FT660's are the best option for any milling you might want to do. Saws and parts are both plentiful and cheap.

Yeah , I was wondering about that when I saw it since I have seen guys on different forums really begging for somebody to come up with even a used one.

Dan, I was referring to the 285-2100 chassis as being scarce on parts. You are right about the 288 as most everything for them is still available. I stock a lot of 288 stuff as there are some still running around here and like your buddy, those guys don't want to set them down.  :)

262 parts are still pretty good but starting to go away. Complete top ends, fuel tanks, the flywheel side seal holder, air filter cover are all NLA. That list will get longer as time goes on.

I just assumed the 200 series parts were still around, with my buddy getting parts for a 288 and 262 why not parts for a 2101? It's all 200 series right?? Guess not. Sorry my bad.

Dan, it's real hit and miss depending on the model. 288 and 272 are real good. Partly because they are still being made in Brazil for the South American market.

242 and 262 parts are starting to disappear as the inventory sells down.
