Last spring I dropped a valve in the old 353 in my Garrett 21 so I put a 4bt in and love it. I recently picked up a 230D with a 353 and now I want to convert it. Has any of you guys done this in a230?

I should have. Other than mounts, and a shaft to retain the pump off the crank its not to bad of a job. If you do one in a 230 i would like to see some pictures. I should have done mine but was pushed for time, Swentons did a nice job on the engine but in a longbunk forwarder in hill country she is gutless sometimes. 353 in a forwarder and 353 in a skidder where set up quite a bit different.

Ive got a chart kicking around somewhere which measures sizes. I know a #3-#4 for a 4bt is easy to get. I would see what the engine comes with. Cant remember what my 230 had but my mechanic said it wasnt an issue. Be alot easier to fit in, 353 in my forwarder is tight. 4hrs with 2 guys and the backhoe she lay on the ground.
