40°F here this morning, and looks like rain starting by 8:00 am. Canadian Thanksgiving today. I'm making bread this morning, I do during the cold season. Got no time in the warm season, enough other stuff to get done. Fire in the furnace and fire in the shop.  ffsmiley

Drizzly rain and snotty all day yesterday here in southern VT. We got a total of .44 inches for the day and the high was 41°. Around 2 am this morning we got a 1/2" dump of rain on a half hour. Still around 40°
Exactly the same weather at home 2.5 hours west but it just happens 2 hours earlier.
Very foggy this morning, visibility is about 1/2 mile. Headed home mid-morning. Another dreary day.

Woke to our first real frost this morning. It may make it to 50 today. The days are getting noticeably shorter.

SwampDonkey

We haven't had much rain, maybe 2/10ths. Real fine stuff that doesn't add up, just keeps stuff wet. Hasn't been anything fall for awhile, gravel and steps are dry.  39° this morning. Might be our first freeze of ground tomorrow morning, in the upper 20's. I think Jeff has had 20's in the UP this past week. I heard talk of snow in higher elevations. Looks like a bright dry stretch from Thursday onward for a week. Might see 60° a couple days and even a 70 in there next week.

Still some spuds to be dug in places, but all harvested here in Royalton.

The frost has really held off, we got our first "killing frost" this morning!

At 7:00 this morning we had 26 degrees, normally we do have a couple of good frosts in September!

Today was the first morning the frost got the squash vines and tomatoes. Our second frost here. Now it will be warmer and sunnier for a few days.  ffsmiley  Sunny and 56° here this afternoon. Feels a lot warmer on the south side of a building. I took and split up that old bee maple wood and a beech that was dying in the yard. That took most of the day including clean up of beech limbs. Still have to stack it yet. I split it finer for the shop stove and cut shorter, so all adds time. That'll come close to filling up the woodshed by the shop. I have a buggy load of aspen stacked in there already, from the woods.  ffwave

Another light frost,
Then in the 70's tomorrow.
But that 70 will only be around for maybe an hour, 2 at the most and it will take all day to get there.
When the sun goes down you better have some warm clothes or work fast.  ffcheesy

No sign of frost this morning yet. Yesterday morning was our first hard frost. The garden is done except I still have to finish digging up the carrots.

About midnight a fierce wind came in until daybreak. Damaged the awning on my trailer a bit. I thought it was going to tear off my half roof on the cabin! Temp dropped and the rainwater from Wednesday froze solid in the wheelbarrow. Ran out of propane for the heat. Cold morning!

Cleaned up the gardens here this morning. Filled up the new woodshed for the shop with wood for next season, maple and beech. Was most all day cutting that beech Thursday and splitting up all the wood including the bee maple. Got it all stacked Friday morning. Close to 1.5 cords. Had frost yesterday and I think a very light one this morning. Froze the surface on mud puddles Friday morning.

Internet was down a couple days. They were suppose to do some work on the network Thursday night. Whatever they did, it went down for 2 days. Back on around noon today. Brought in a buggy load of firewood for the house after dinner. Will be going back at the 2025 firewood cut'n on Monday.  ffsmiley

Yesterday was gorgeous I expect today will be gorgeouser! It hit just over 70 yesterday and today and might hit 72 today, already 52° here. Blue skies to boot. I did a fire in the shop yesterday morning to dry it out, today I may just open the doors for a while.
There is a show today that I have done 3 times now with no so great results. I took a pass this month but will drive out this afternoon to see how the others did. I might have missed a good day.

Lull is down. I hope to get the parts today.
I have 1500 tree stakes to get out. and other orders plus some inventory.
