Hilltop,

Yes to the mill. My buddies bought it and I think a guy in Truro makes them. This one needs some major redesign/rebuild which we will do in his shop this coming winter... but for now we are milling and learning.

What will your buddy do with the engine? If I had to do it again I would go to shakes and painted boards/trim like you. Classic style but with less maintenance.

I'm not to sure what his plans are for the engine just a toy I guess, as far as the siding goes I wanted something that was low maintenance and natural looking, also not a big fan of vinyl although I did use vinyl for the soffit and fascia so I wouldn't have to paint it, If I did it again I would consider putting aluminum on the corner boards, the pine I used for them won't hold stain very well so I will replace them with unplaned wood as they need to be replaced, I think it should work better.
