hi guys two questions
1. my friend gave me a brand new windsor speedtip 32" bar and chain combo only problem is it reads 63...404 on the bar and I have a 576xp that is setup for .375 .050 what do I need to do to use this bar and chain combo and is it worth the switch over?

2. I also have a 24" husky bar with several chains in .375 .058 what do I have to do to make this combo work on the same saw (576xp .375 .050)?

Great site thanks Pete
And still loving my cb6048 5 years no oil!

the 32 in bAR with 404, change the saw sprocket.

.375 is .375, dosnt matter on gauge size, they all work with the same sprocket weather its pro spur or rim.   .050, .058 and .063 all work

I occasionally run a 32 in bar .375 with .063 on my jonsered, mostly I run a 16 in bar with .050, sometimes run a 20 in bar with .050.
I have a rim drive on it now.

Like he said above just slap on a rim sprocket in 404 onto your saw to run the 32". Swap back to run your 3/8 stuff. Take less then a min to swap rims back and forth.

or you could change the tip on the 404 bar to 3/8 and run 3/8 063.

Check the fit on the saw, it may be a Stihl bar. That pitch and gauge was commonly used on big Stihls such as the MS880 and 090, the tail pattern is not the same as Husky.  As far as the 24"bar goes, as long as it has the large mount it will work just fine. You will need .058 chain but either gauge will work on the saw without modification.

You may want to reador the below thread on .404 chains. User was trying a smaller bar in 404 on a Stihl 460 with poor results, may get the same issues with these saws being about same displacement.

I never even thought about the OP not knowing the difference in bar mounts  smiley_lit_bulb. Guess he better check that 32" bar for the type mount first.  candle_smiley

gee ya know all he runs is stihl I had better check the bar fit. His biggest saw is a 460 which is right on par for h.p. with my 576xp but this setup would be for intermittent use as I have acquired some rather large od logs for chunking up in the owb.
also I had the 24" husky .058 bar and .058 on my 576 and she really didn't seem right with that setup so I put the stock 20".050 and .050 chain and man it was like night and day cutting so I assumed the .058 was the wrong setup

050 058 didnt make the difference  ;). Maybe the chain cutter itself did and a 576 should pull that 24 all day long.

You can run a adapter to use stihl bars on your husky. Also can make your own.

I got pics of doing so but they wont paste here.

I wonder if you had the small mount bar, if so the chain will not get oil.

Small bar mount will not fit without being filed.

Even if you could get that bar to fit your 576.......32" .404 is too much for that saw in STOCK form IMO.

maybe save my dough on converting and invest in ,050 32" setup sounds best?

Baileys have this adapter, so you can use a Stihl bar on a Husky. A couple stove bolt square nuts can all so be used with a little filing.

I think going with 3/8" chain in that size is probably best option.
