Had a call for white oak to be used for decking on a new house. Is 1 1/8" enough or do I need to go 5/4"?

For an external porch deck to finish out at 1", I would mill for a 5/4 dry thickness (1-3/8 green milling thickness) and then S4S to 1" after drying.
Peterson 10" WPF with 65' of track
Smith - Gallagher dedicated slabber
Tom's 3638D Baker band mill
and a mix of log handling heavy equipment.

I would be concerned about getting black stains on oak from any iron that may contact it.
