Congratulations to Cedarman
« on: March 23, 2007, 04:15:19 PM »
I am truly blessed to be one of the first, and also the first on behalf of the Forestry Forum, to congratulate one of our longtime members, Cedarman, on a well deserved and distinguishing award.

Dave Mann, Wood-Mizer's VP and Doug Keele, head of the industrial division, visited Richard on Thursday March 23rd and presented him with the 2006 Wood-Mizer, Grand Champion Business Best Award. Cedarman, his wife and all 4 of thier children have worked hard to create this successful business. Their work ethic mixed with a load of smarts has really earned them this industry recognition.

April's Wood-Mizer Way will have a full article on the recognition of Cedarman's achievements.

Congratulation Richard and Family!

I just got on the forum after a long day in the woods and some supper.  My back is kinda sore from all the thumping, but I sure do appreciate it.  Each of our family has a part of this business, some more than others. So it is a lot more than just me. It has created interesting times, too.
To have such an award from the company that I consider the best in the business is just overwhelming.
Usually I can spit out the words by the bucketful, but I  don't really know what to say other than: To be the best you have to hang out with the best and you folks are the best.

One of the best things about this sawmilling business is the people around the country you get to meet. As many of you know socializing is one of my specialties.

Tcsmpsi, my dear wife would be in serious shock if we got in a family way.  We do love our grandkids though.

Thanks to everyone.

I am in the pink when sawing cedar.

Over the years, I've gotten to "know" Cedarman by his post here on the Forum.  We've never had the opportunity to sit down and chew the fat.  Maybe someday we will.  But, from the quality of the posts and the downright optimism that he has, I've developed a lot of respect for the man.  Its good to see that someone else has also recognized the talent.

Everyone else has given you a congratulations, so I'll also give you a  smiley_thumbsup

All that red sweat has paid off big-time. You're a lucky man to have a family to help you acheive this standing. They are a lucky family who has YOU to share the praise and honor with them.   "some more than others", to be sure, but they will all remember the team leader who took them there.
Thanks for setting such a fine example for us all.

Way to go Cedarfamily. I feel more successful just hanging around the same forum as you and your family. Keep up the good work. Your really gonna have to pull out all the stops to top this one. From what I read this is well deserved and long over due.

We got our Wood-Mizer Way today ....  8)

I read it cover to cover while Mary was starting supper.  Then she got her chance.....  Being the smartly she is,  she spotted something really odd about the article on Richard's grand prize.

See if you can spot it...  :o

OK. 'nether question for you guys with sharp eyes..

On page 17 where they have the story about Dick & Ron Flynn's third place award,  they have a picture of their LT70 set up with roller conveyors going out the hitch end and over here and there.

The mill is obviously a "walk along" model with Accuset.  But it looks like it has an hydraulic box and return skid table of an LT40 model.  I thought the LT70 had the hydraulic pump box mounted mid-frame some place?  Also,  where are the hydraulic controls?  Looks like it'd be real difficult to operate if they were sticking out of the hydraulic box under the roller case as it looks like in the picture.

I know on my LT70 the hyd controls are the same as the LT40 except that I have one extra for the chain on  the log turner. The way I understand it you need to have the remote modle to get the mid mount hyd box. As to what the Flynns' have going I don't know.
Two LT70s, Nyle L200 kiln, 4 head planer, 30" double surface planer, Lucus dedicated slaber, Slabmizer, and enough rolling stock and chainsaws to keep it all running.

You know...  I've seen quite a few LT70s at shows and such and I guess everyone has been equipped with a remote station.  I see now how the non-remote would have the box and valve assembly like the LT40 but I can't see how he gets to the valves to use them.

Maybe he's got a monkey under the roller table pullin' them?  smiley_monkeyfight
