When entering our answer into the link, does the equal sign need to be there?

Yes, it must be there. You are simply replacing the YOURANSWER part with the correct answer.  Having issues?  ;D

Hey Jeff will you be posting the names of successful entrants? I ask because of the warning about the proper address after getting to the thread. Not sure if I would know if I goofed at that point so that I could redo it but forgot to check on the exact wording before I sent it. I considered redoing it but decided that this was probably less annoying to you.

Don't let this be harder than it is. :)   Believe me, the answer is right there. If you listen, I'll tell you the answer. (in the recording  :))  Be at peace with the contest my forum friends. don't let it aggravate you. It really is not that difficult.  :)  Once you get it, you will kick yourself for not getting it. :D

So, no one has had any comments on the future podcasts idea...

My daughter came over this morning and brought Tammy's mom for a visit.  Tammy had Sharon sit down and listen to the podcast. When it was over, Tammy asked her if she knew the solution to the puzzle.  Tammy's mom said, "well I think so, it seemed pretty easy".  She then proceeded to give us the correct solution the first time listening to it without any help or guidance.

I wish you would! We could add a new line of products. Goatwicker furniture  8)

I miss the goats we had.
This week,no joke, I have been using cedar logs from our place here that were pealed by goats. They ate the bark from the cedar trees and then those trees died.

Now carry on with the original topic.  ;D

Poston, did you try listening in half speed or playing it backwards? What about any tapping sounds. It might just be morse code. I heard it the first time but I had to listen again to get the right dots and dashes ;D

I tried so many different things that the FF software or something thought that I was a bot or something and made me type those screwy letters in the box two different times.  Yup, I have the whole thing memorized.   smiley_dizzy

Another hint. Listen closely in the background. Get somewhere really quiet.  Tap......tap tap...tap...tap tap thud...thud tap. Get a pen and paper and write down the times you hear each tap and thud. Then you can start to decode the first part of the puzzle. Think colors. Or Jeffs favorite food.

No I'm not trying to throw anyone off. Just trying to help  ;Dl ;D

I feel sorry for anyone who has to listen to that more than once.  What accent?  Yanks don't have accents unless they are from Maine or Massachusetts. ;D

Poston stop wasting time listening as I entered so that I could win your prize!!!

Not only does Jeff tell you the answer but I think he tells you it twice.  He was pretty straight forward it was me who tried throwing everyone off with my code words. ;D

I went and looked, and see no errors in the log for your I.P. so it didn't come from the forum. It seems it must have come from your Internet Service Provider.  I know of no system on our server outside of the forum software that could request a captcha form submission to proceed.

You know when you've listened to a personality on the radio for years and then you're disappointed when you finally see a picture of them—because they never looked like you imagined?  For many of us, this is the first time we've heard the mysterious voice behind the mug we've seen on the forum for years.  Well, I'm here to certify that Jeff definitely sound like a Michigander!  In fact, I couldn't help but think he sounds a lot like Jeff Daniels (who, of course, was raised and lives in Chelsea, MI).   :D

OK.  I'm in.  Was obvious, as advertised.  But I have to give some cred to Poston, whose post about adding a space at the end was key to interrupting my frustration.  I thought I heard the answer the first time through, and I was correct, but without the "space", the correct answer goes nowhere.  Yes, I, too, am on a Mac.
Title: Re: 2015 Christmas Contest!
Post by: Jeff on December 16, 2015, 09:04:13 AM
That space definitely has to be a mac thing, because it simply isn't the case with a PC or android phone.

5 more entries over night! :)   Some I could technically throw out, as they didn't add their usernames as required. I ask that so I can quicky identify you, but using the forum email for to complete the contest adds the member's email of record from the forum, so I can easily figure out who they are that way.  Getting a contest email entry from an unknown to me address that simply says,

Thanks for the contest,

Joe

My software was updated to the El Capitain iOS X version in October.  That was its own bundle of joy. :-\.  And I am on an iMac, note a notebook.

Mac users are quite accustomed to the statement: "It works on ANY computer", followed quickly by the accusatory, "OH, you have a MAC!!!"

I TELL you what the solution is. I Tell you. I also said something about hoping they don't quit listening after 5 minutes. I could add to that, that the reason for this, is the solution is in that first 5 minutes.

I don't know if this is part of some peoples problems or not, but your answer does NOT go in the forum search, it does NOT go in google. It does NOT go in bing. It ONLY goes in the browser address bar where the web addresses for web pages appear as instructed in the audio.   Browser is firefox, or internet explorer or chrome, or aol or maybe some other obscure browsers.

If everyone had watched the "minute / second" counter on the contest podcast....

when the time got to 4:14....Jeff gave the answer.

One of his hints were "414".

Also in his last hint, he said it is NOT THAT COMPLICATED

3 words  :)

So you should have used the address:

forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=notthatcomplicated.....
and you would have got in.  :)

If you want to be technical about it.  In the podcast, he said "the answer is not that complicated."

Nope, only once. But I absolutely tell them what the solution is. It's not that complicated. Anyone can do it!

I gave the answer plain as day above, but use the magician's trick of misdirection by following immediately with Anyone can do it! :)

it's is a contraction of it is.  "Its" is a possessive, and it is proper to use it without the apostrophe as a possessive.  If it is a contraction, it needs the apostrophe.

I have an issue with then and than, and many times use the wrong word when I know which one it should be.

Better to be last than miss the deadline.
Kept forgetting about it.
Kind of like the Abbott and Costella skit of Who's on first.  That is what I asked, Who is on first? And I told you, Who is on first.  And on and on it went.

Poston, I think you're on the right track.  The correct response will unlock another thread where the word search is located.  After you unscramble the circled letters, it will spell out three "goat movie titles".  I don't know what we do with those, but the contest could go on for months!   :D

The first movie title is   Goat With The Wind,   The next is   To Kill A MockingGoat,   and the last is  American Goatffitti, That was easy, I've seen them all.         Andy

Right, now if we take major stars from each of those films:  Clark Gable, Gregory Peck, and Richard Dreyfuss...I mean Clark Goat, Gregory Goat, and Richard Goatfuss, maybe we can figure out the anagrams that will tell us the winners!  Are we getting close Jeff?   :o

Thank you Jeff for once again having the Christmas Contest. You always come up with something that will push a member ALMOST to the point of "busting" a computer.

And its really hard to come up with the right words to thank a sponsor like Logrite.
Tammy and Kevin.....just plain and simple, you are good down to earth people.
I appreciate you and what you do for the forum.

The Jr. Cant Hook is something I can really use...bad.
I'm excited and waiting on it......so hurry up.  :D :D :D :D
Thanks again.

My Christmas Contest prize arrived today.
Thanks Tamiam, I really appreciate it.

I have 2 different Baby Cant Hooks.
The Blue one was my Christmas prize.
The Orange one is a special made hook Tamiam made for me to move small Cedar logs that are wedged in beds of trailers. It works GREAT!

I also got my order of Bleucreeper in today along with their Hand Cleaner.  Thanks again.  :)

 8) Had this package waiting for me when I got home this afternoon:

Now I have a bottle for around my shop/house and one for up on the property.  Wish I had it back on the 1st - my padlock on my storage box was frozen! (another thread)  Next trip up I'll see how it works on that.  The package says "Providing High Strength Lubrication" - and just in case, a bottle opener was also provided! :D

I was a little worried I would have to keep swapping the needle applicator and the storage cap to keep from spilling while in storage, but the needle cap has a really nice rubber stopper.  Well thought out package!

Thank you again Tamiam, Kevin and Jeff for the fun contest and the prizes.
