Rules are simple.
1. You must be a registered Forestry Forum Member. If you are not a member, simply register and you will be eligible to participate. :)
2. Successfully Complete the 5 different Forestry Forum Who wants to be a millionaire games (Go the distance, beat the million level on all 5 versions) to proceed. Make sure you enter your information carefully! (You most likely will need to refresh your page to try and get to all 5 needed versions as they are presented randomly.)
3. Winners will be randomly drawn from those who successfully enter and will be announced on this topic on Christmas Day.
This years contest will be a dusted off and tweaked version of the Forestry Forum "Who wants to be a millionaire?" game we have used in the past. The major "Tweak" is now a countdown on each attempt to complete the game. It kinda messes with your ability to run to google for each question. (Insert Evil Laugh Here ;))
Good Luck and have fun!
ENTER THE CONTEST! (https://forestryforum.com/millionaire/)
Note: While all members are eligible to win, members outside of the united states must pay for shipping and any duties or costs outside of the actual prize value or they may pass the prize on to another member.
Keep checking for updates on the prize listings :)
Great fun,
Thanks Jeff, WIldflower and the contest supporters,

year 3 for me!!! :new_year:
Reindeer turds???
You will like doc henderson's engravings!! A very nice prize.
2 entries this morning, Always nice to have proof positive that it can be done. ;D
Well after nearly an hour and a half of the usual frustration I finished the first level, I think, but then it just bring me back to the log in window. Did I do something wrong? I refresh, check the contest again, and get the same questions. How do I find the different levels? These contests always have a devilish overtone to them pushing my brain to it's (short) limits. ;D :D
There are five sets of questions or levels and you have to successfully complete all five before you can move on, not just one.
Yes, I did that, but then what? I mean I got it up to the million bucks, then it just went back to the log in screen.
Do you have the prompts or pop ups turned off? You will have no idea what is going on if you do. Every time you do something, you should get an alert on what to do next. If you are able to accomplish this on a phone, it would be pretty miraculous, but I did a level and made it. This is a javascript application. You must allow javascript. NOT JAVA!
Offs are you disables prompts.
I have completed several. one said to remember the answer to move on. but I also just re-enter my name and get another random set of questions. and some I have completed several times. hmmmm. the audio clue is not much help! :snowball:

Not using a phone, PC. All the little boxes popup after each action. I believe I have javascript enabled.
I don't understand this sentence. "Offs are you disables prompts." Sorry, I am just very dense.
It is bumping me off before getting the million? of course I am getting the questions right.! :)
I get through the whole thing no wrong answers, and get a screen that says 'thanks for playing the christmas contest', then nothing else.
so I started keeping track of each of the five by putting down the answer to the first question, and the last answer which I was told to remember. I have reached 1 mil to each of the five groups of questions. now what?
On my way to late archery season in the land of u.p. At a rest stop. Everything works, we have entries. Y'all help each other. ;)
do you get some notice when you have completed all 5 successfully? I have made it to the end of all of them at least 3 times... I think!
I was instructed to remember the answer to the last question of each of the five, but have not been asked to do anything with them.
It's the most wonderful time of the year! :snowball:
I too have completed all 5 sets and have the last answers written down, but nowhere to enter them. I am in the same situation as Doc it appears.
Yes you do unless you have disabled pop ups. As soon as you complete a level you will get a pop up. Or, you just aint paying attention.
Have you see this??
Ive got Jeremy working on an alternative password tester for those of you that dont know how to disable a pop up, but that is all you need to do...
😂. Good job Jeff 👍

You did notice you are working under a timer right? I suggest always reading every word as they may or may not be crucial.
The pop ups was the issue. Got it and thanks again for a great contest. Always a challenge that I can't put down until I get it. Thanks to the sponsors and others who have donated prizes to make this happen. Merry Christmas to all!
I find sometimes the popup window is behind the browser.
It was doing this when I ask the audience.
JJ
Well I had to change browsers to see the messages after the quiz, then I just had to take them over and over until I could get to the one remaining one I needed and figure out the few questions that stumped me. Very well designed. Happy Season to one and all.
Oh and special thanks to Logrite, et al for sponsoring, and the other prize donors like Doc, Corely, and The Cfarm.
my laptop is Microsoft edge. My other one uses chrome and I will try it. I still cannot get the end message. I do not even read the questions, just know the answer, and almost know the pattern of response before the next question. I can do a set of questions in less than a minute.
It was chrome I had the problem with and I switched to edge and it worked. With edge, the popup was behind the browser screen.
Yeah, I think a few of us got really good at blindly plugging in the correct answers. ;D I finally figured out some things to help me find the one remaining quiz a little easier, that one did not seem to come up 'randomly' enough for my tastes. :D You got time Doc, you will figger it out.
it was the opposite for me. all set up and always signed in to edge. so I logged in on chrome. I turned off pop ups 3 times and made no difference, but when logging in on chrome it asked me if I wanted to see notifications, and I said yes. must be the way I set it up. I am in. finally got it. would have never worked on M. Edge. at least I could not make it work. :christmas:
I'm in!
Thanks to Jeff and Tammy as well as all the sponsors for both the prizes and supporting the best forum on the web!
Thanks to Jeff, Tammy, and the Forestry Forum Sponsors and Supporters.
I found out that I was one Reindeer turd short!! :-X
Enough of this ground hog day Christmas contest. I am in!!!!!
;D I lost more than half of all the marbles, just saying.................. :snowball: :D :D
LIL
There currently are very, very good odds of winning a prize. ::)
I made it! This is my second contest. Thanks Jeff and Tammy and everyone who donated prizes.
16 entries so far. I guess I should have alllowed mail in entries.
I'm gonna get on it today. Been too busy. I always enjoy the contests. Thanks for coming up with another fun one and thanks to everyone who donated prizes.
It took me a while to find time complete the contest.
Jeff, Thanks for creating the contest.
Thanks to members and sponsors that donated gifts.
I've worked on it a few times, but that DanG clock keeps running out on me. I get into it and the phone rings or something else interrupts me but the count-down clock just don't care. >:(

Jeff, I know whenever you create something like this it is very difficult to predict how difficult it will turn out to be for the users. Your contests I have always found to be very challenging and not something I can skate through when I have a few minutes, I have to work at it for several hours, usually more. This was my 3rd contest and one of the things I learned too late is that one does better if one takes notes along the way. On this one you have to restart on the path many times and knowing which of those 5 paths you are on will really help. I didn't really look at the prizes much because I haven't been that lucky yet, but those are wonderful bonuses. With so many who eventually navigate the gauntlet, my odds will be pretty low when drawing time comes around anyway. There is still plenty of time to get it done and I am sure a LOT more folks will find success.
Thanks again to everyone who puts so much effort into this.

:D :D :D
It was the tech. issues that made it hard after the initial several runs. I turned off the pop up and changed from chrome to edge. I prob. spent 3 hours and got to the point I could move the mouse to the proper answer before it popped up, and without reading the question. It was multifactorial and like a mission impossible. but all that know, it should pave the way for the others. still time. :snowball:
Don't trust the audience :D.
My phone a friend was Jeff, and I think he was messing with me.
JJ
Thank you Jeff, all the sponsors to FF, and the prize donors :christmas:
I called myself and I gave myself the right answer :D.
The contest is fun. As always. Read my post in this thread and I gave you all a clue. ;D
Also gives you some fun facts about the FF. :D
These contests are fun "usually", but I can't seem to get the jest of this one, so it's way back there on the back burner! :-\
Tip
I wrote down the first answer for each one then the last answer to enter when all were completed. This way I could keep track of which ones I completed and not have to redo them. Page refresh is your friend.
:christmas: :new_year:
Merry Christmas to All.
It only took us 3 nights. Us because I finally had Cathy come and help me.
Thanks everyone.
:new_year:
Anxious for the Christmas day drawing. Thank you Jeff, Logrite, and other sponsors.
Well I am glad to see the entries are slowly increasing. Just got a jolt when I realized the drawing is only 1 week away. Where do the year go? Oh yeah.....
Time is drawing close!
I started off slow but got the idea eventually. I learned a couple things and had to remember back some of the things I knew I'd read on here before but couldn't remember where. My thanks to Jeff for another fun contest and to all the sponsors
I love it. Yes indeed I use a small blanket when I relax in the easy chair. Love the look on your Shepherds face

I need the address to election HQ so I can send in my absentee and my dead relatives ballots! I have a few more quizzes to go, still noodling!
Great job this year. Much harder than last enjoyed the challenge and the refresh button!
That is nice of Wildflower. Thank you.
Anyone else dare to give the contest a try? ;D
I am certain there are many out there that are getting close to finishing, but this one takes a fair amount of time, especially if you don't make some notes along the way. One of the reasons I liked it. If you could do it in a half hour, there wouldn't be much fun in that. But having said that, this isn't one you can wait until the last minute on and just 'get it done'. It will take time whether you like it or not. ;D
Redundancy, persistence, note taking, and quick use of the refresh key are the secrets here. I love a challenge, and this was surely one of those.
I do wish more people would participate but it really doesn't matter. As much time as it takes to succeed in getting in, you can multiply that several times on the time to put it together. For me at this point n my life, putting a challenging contest together is a personal challenge that gets more difficult each year. I do look at it a bit different than I used to. I look at it more now as my way of a gift to those that enjoy it, which I do really love to see.
I get that, Jeff, and I appreciate your effort. I'm almost done and hope to finish this morning and I'm enjoying the challenge. My big problem has been the annoying things going on that have occupied my time and kept me from working on it. It requires a bit of concentration and commitment to the process, and I can't seem to go five minutes without something interrupting or taking me away from the important task of finishing the contest.
Thanks for putting this together again this year and giving us an entertaining and challenging contest!
Well I finally got a chance to finish up this evening and I'm INNNN! Wow, this was a tough contest this year. Made me think, remember, take notes and all those annoying things. I learned some new stuff too - - mainly that I like the contests that ARE LITTLE EASIER than this one! :D :D
Thanks Jeff and Tammy and all the sponsors and donors of the prizes.
Merry Christmas everybody. And, ty the way :new_year:
Well the odds just went down. :D ;D
Good luck to everyone still working on it, you will get there if you don't give up. Lets see how long you can make my odds! Although in a 50/50 toss up I have about an 80% chance of losing because that is how my luck goes. As I said earlier, the prize for me was the fun of doing the contest and getting it done. Of course, watching the drawing video is also fun. :)
For anyone still working on the contest or yet to start - KEEP AT IT! Yer gitten there.
". . . endeavor to persevere"
I enjoyed it. Once I got it figured out ;), it was easy to solve. Thank you for another great year.
This one was challenging but a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. I always look forward to the diabolical creative things that Jeff can think up ;D.
:D Finally got myself entered, I did complete it but threw away the answers, so just had to do it again, you'd think it would have been easy the 2nd time around think_not Love these competitions every year!!
Merry Christmas Forestry Forum Family :christmas:
LIL
I get anywhere from 6 to 8 sets of question? Must be that Chrome doesn't like to play along.
There's five sets. Chrome is fine. You're just experiencing Jeff's diabolical nature I think. Some of his popup messages make it seem like you're finishing a level, but you're not. Fooled me at first. When you make a correct answer and then get to the solution screen you've finished one set. You also get there when you give an incorrect answer which can be confusing at first.
Keep working on it!
Some do not read my posts.
I started in Chrome, wasn't working right, switched to edge and got through the whole thing in 3 short hours. ;D
Big clues expired.
Geeezzzzzz!
I'd feel pretty miserable if I had to use that kinda help. Or cheat. I'd have missed all the entertainment!
Thanks for playing everyone! Merry Christmas, and God Bless!

To all of you that truly believe that you are talented connoisseurs of the finest of wines, remember that to that very fine nectar you are just another filter! Enjoy anyway!
