Has anyone ever tried carbide tipped Bandsaw blades? What are the pros and cons other than price?

The con, from my standpoint, is that I can't resharpen it myself. I'm guessing sending it out for resharpening must be more expensive too.

Lennox is making a carbide tipped bandmill blade these days,  A few years ago I tried a carbide blade in the woodmizer hit a nail and lost the carbide in the cut.

Carbide would be great in clean wood but it won't handle the high speed impact of foreign objects imbedded in salvaged or urban sourced timber.
