Title: damaged bark on oak
Post by: proteus on May 01, 2013, 08:58:10 AM
I was putzing around in the back yard with the pickup and backed into a oak tree and did a little damage to the bark. The tree is about 6'' dia and I loosened a piece of bark about 3x12. Is there something I can do to repair it? I would hate to lose it. I took a picture but forgot the ipad at home this morning.:-\

I believe their is no repair. The damage is done, and trimming the loose off clean may help it heal (begin to grow over the wound).
Survival will depend on remaining bark attached, and avoiding bug/disease attack.
