Northern lights last night here.

36°F this morning and another decent dry day to start anyway. Got to work up some garden and put the onions in.  ffsmiley  The black flies will likely be out chewing by mid morning. Might see 60° today. Yesterday was 55°F.

Sawmills and Milling / 1989 WM LT40 Main Drive Repair...
Last post by Chiselbut - Today at 03:55:00 AM
I need to replace the leaking seals on the Main Drive Bearing Assembly. Questions about bearing play, and pulley and band wheel removal:

The bearing assembly has (about) 1/8" of back and forth play.  Further forum searches indicate that there  should be no movement yet, other's say that is normal.  There does not appear to be side to side sloppiness.

I assume i can use standard 4 jaw pullers on the wheel and pulleys...while on the saw correct? Or what other tool would be best?  Assuming these are stout and won't crack or bend at the hub/spoke area?

Is it best  to replace all of the bearings seeing that i will be pulling this unit to install seals?

I assume its accepted practice to tap/pound  the pulleys back onto the shaft to reinstall the pulleys and wheel once the unit is bolted back into place on the saw?

Thank you for your help.

Yes it does have an extra roller! 9 compared to 8. Good eye. I missed that!
Saw has 150 psi compression and had .022" squish in the top end at the top of stroke.
Upper ring end gap - .008"
Lower ring end gap- .009"

Well dealer delivered Mill this afternoon. We set it up, loaded a log and cut 28 1 5/8 x 3 5/8 two by's. Mill cut dead on and everything works as it should. I liked my lt35 HD I had lot but this lT50 is super nice and fast. Must now master the Accuset 2. I am now a happy camper.
