Title: 440a center pins
Post by: LeakyBoot on May 14, 2013, 09:35:16 AM
I drove 130 miles to look at a 440A.   Was told the pins were  loose. On the way there I called JD and was told those are no longer sold.   As many 440 skidders out there ---is this true?   Where do you get them?  Can't?   I didn't buy it for other reasons. Just wondering about parts for these.  Thanks, LB

Find a different dealer.  About the only thing I've had trouble finding for mine is a new fuel tank (which I didn't need!).

Some dealers would rather sell you a new one then fix yer old one...

Have new center pins and bushings made at your local machine shop...

Yep, any good machinist can usually set you up as good or better than JD and (at least the guy I deal with) gets it done for about 25-30% less than buying the parts from Deere.

I thought as much.     I was sure he was feeding me only "what he knew", which apparently was not as much as he should know.   I didn't buy the JD as it was pretty rough and used up.   Really wanted a red timberjack anyway.   Thanks,  LB
