My wife just talked to her aunt. They are from Cambria. They have 30 inches of snow and are supost to get 6 more inches tonight. How do you guys deal with that much snow i would go crazy. We have not had any yet just freezeing rain a couple of times and everything basicly stops around here.

Just keep piling it up and pushing it back... ;D ;D ;D

If not, the driveway gets narrower and narrower.., and if comes a warm spell where it melts and turns to ice, you are stuck not able to move it until Spring comes.

And the more we shove it out of the way and pile it up, the more our driveways look like canyons.  I set out my snowsnake traps today.  I hope I catch some this year. I hear their skins are bringing in some good money.  Last year I didn't have much luck. I got one in my trap but he tore it up. I bought some heavy duty traps this year. They are very elusive critters.

I was tought at a young age to push the snow as far as you can and then some . I do that now and I always have snow in the back of my mind when setting up new buildings and or planting vegetation . Aint nothing worse then not having any wheres to stick/throw/push/blow snow during all of winter . It gets narrow , but that also makes for nice pictures  ;) .........  He who has biggest snowbank wins in the end    8)...

One time the snow got so deep we had to "go" in a shotgun, then shoot it up the chimney.

:D :D :D We are supposed to get up to a foot today. Looks like we will be having unexpected guests for Christmas. Friends were supposed to leave Seattle for Haiti on Sunday. After nine hours driving and another five in the line up, no go.They are hoping to get out of Vancouver this afternoon but it's not looking good and the road home will likely be closed.

Come on down Steve. I'm sitting here in short sleeves. Had a cold snap Mon. 23 degrees but it is in the upper 60's today with rain forecasted. All the new bikes are gonna get muddy.

Ditto!
We are having the same continuing snow on this side of the lake. Still snowing and now have to go out and blow it again to open the drive. I've put more gas through the snow blower so far this December than I have for total winters in past years. Woods jobs are being put on hold due to the closed access routes and poor working conditions which I don't need to be out in.

My 36 inch snow depth gauge has gone out of site a few days ago. I now need to watch that the high snow banks and narrow roads aren't taking the side mirrors off the pick-up. ;)

Just got back from  plowing and were going back out in a few hours. I've been out every night for over two weeks plowing and hauling snow. I don't think it's ever going to end!

Michigan snow.  Just came in from the last bout of shoveling. This is the worst it has been. Heavy nasty stuff.

The back deck is full above the rails and the pool is in there. Somewhere. Thats not shoveled snow. I have to pust hte snow to the end and shovel it away.

Still a little bit of beauty in this WHITE CRAP. :D

We don't have the depth you guys have but the wind has been blowing in the 20-30mph range today. I opened our drive and the road at the office only to see them drift back in within an hour. It's 4°F but thankfully the sun is shining. We took the rest of the day off and have been enjoying ourselves despite the weather. Got some trans siberian orchestra cranked up, boy can they play!

stumpy

Yes I am in the business now.  I have the one contract and I've booked 95 hours this month.  The money's good and I don't mind the hours.  It's just a little hectic during the Christmas season.

Oh how I remember those Iowa winds in winter blowing snow. Brings back memories of getting the old A John Deere started by spinning the flywheel, then loading the manure spreader and heading for the fields.  Was a cold ride....can't remember what I wore to stay reasonably warm, but it was before the invention of hooded sweatshirts (at least in my wardrobe).

Just read that at noon today, Madison set the all-time record for December snowfall, at 36".  The old record was 35" set in the year 2000. The month record is for 37" in February of 1994.
Sure makes one think that global warming brings a lot of snow.  ::) ::) ::)

Hang in there Stumpy. Some pics of your rig please.... :)  We like pics.

Well, this year you guys can have the 12 feet of snow. When Jeff gets another 3 or 4 feet of the stuff, he won't see daylight until April. So when ya shoveling off the roof? :D

I'm not shoveling off the roof. Its built for high snow loads. How high, I hope we dont have to find out. I've always been more fearful of damaging the roof by getting on it with a shovel.  Besides, if I shoveled it off now, all the windows would be covered.

I wouldn't climb up there either, I have a roof rake I made to grab the snow that sits on my lower shed roof. You don't clean down to the shingles or nails anyway. ;) The rest is too steep to hold much more than 2", then swoosh off it slides.
