Title: The Birdie Hut
Post by: Bothy_Loon on October 27, 2005, 03:31:56 PM
This is another project I was lucky enough to be involved with last year.
The buildig is the new HQ for the Scottish Ornitholigists Club.
The timbers were scourced from Plodda a forest not that far from FT Augustus & is Douglas Fir of the highest quality. Seed scource again the Fraser River.
Some of the timbers I milled were 30ft x 14 x 10 inches.
Unfortunately I have not got the skill nor the knowledge to lay out & cut the joints. This was done by Carpenter Oak & woodland, acompany that specialise in timber frame buildings.
The external cladding was good quality European Larch, slow grown & clean.
The building stands on the south side of the Firth of Forth near Aberlady & as yet I have not seen the finished project.

That's an impressive structure, Bothy.  I'm glad you got the picture thing figured out.  Keep'em coming! ;D
