Hey there everyone, I don't get a chance to post here much, I spend a fair amount of time in the woods, often I can view the site but do not have a good enough connection to post...
I used to have an 86' LT40G20 manual, but have recently sold it and upgraded to a 07' LT40 super... Been going thru it and doing some pre use maintanence, I found that the debarker motor has a broken magnet in the case, the armature and the rest of the motor are in great condition...
Local motor repair shops say they can't get just a set of magnets, so replace the whole thing... Anyone have any ideas on where a burned up motor can be had, to get ahold of a good useable housing to rebuild?
Btw, It's a leeson 3/4 hp...
Any ideas???
Thanks.
No, but I have heard of folks cleaning them up really well with acetone and using JB Weld to reattach them.
Thanks MM...
I have the epoxy already from other motors I have repaired, guess I was hoping someone may know of burned up or bad motor they may be willing to part with to be able to put together one good one...
Have not had any luck sourcing just a magnet yet...
I've got a whole bunch of those if your still in need. PM me with your contact information
Hope you can get that motor issue resolved. I had to rob a simple brush spring from my debarker motor(same one,Lesson 3/4 hp) for my power feed motor. I can buy a new brush set kit, just hate to chunk 50 bucks just for a spring. I am still on the hunt for something that will work. I have been fortunate on having clean logs, for now. Good luck,

Still looking for a couple of magnets for my 3/4hp debarker motor... if anyone has any they want to get rid of please let me know.
Thanks. Charles.
The best advice so far is to glue the magnet back in place. There is a very good chance that the armature is not 100% due to the displaced magnet.
I would go to Leeson themselves and buy a complete housing assembly if you really think the armature is good.
Your motor shop should be able to tell if the armature is good, but if they didn't want to work with you on a rebuild or new parts, I wouldn't totally trust them.
There are a lot of places on the web that could help you, heres one.

Good luck. Roger
Thanks for the link... we already contacted leeson and some motor shops... all everyone has to say is get a new housing for $300 bucks... but I only need two magnets, thats why I have been looking for magnets or a bad motor to harvest a couple of magnets out of... The rotor tested good, so I assembled it with only two of the three sets of magnets... essentually I have a 1/2hp debarker motor at the moment because the field is smaller...
I will find a bad motor or a couple of magnets eventually, just thought I'd check here again to see if anyone had anything laying around...
Charles.
My two cents...
Why not contact Woodmizer directly and see if they have any magnets? I don't know if they build them in house or have parts to repair them, but its worth a shot. You never know, they might have a busted debarker that can't be used on a new mill and are willing to sell it out for parts.

I doubt that they would have just the magnets, but may very well have a junker debarker motor. smiley_thumbsup
It just seems like someone like this LINK (http://www.magnets.com.cn/Ferrite-Magnet/Motor-arc.html) would have the correct replacement magnets.
