I did a search for the answer and couldn't find it, that's why I'm asking.

Somehow my Firefox browser got set so that every windows media file I tried to view would open with VLC media player.

Somw vidoes don't play well for me with this player.

I managed to get it turned off by using "manage add-ons" in the general tab under tools/options

So now it doesn't automatically start up.

However, now when I click on most videos it automatically downloads instead of automatically playing in Windows Media Player, like it use to.

What setting do I have to change to get it to not download but to just play?

Thanks for your help.

Tools / Options / Applications

Scroll down the list for each file type that you want to set
Select the media player you want for each file type.

When you installed VLC it likely asked you if you wanted it set as your default media player.
