Interesting Jeff. All the pig roasters around here are wood fired. That's a nice setup you have. I'll be interested to se what kind of drive system you have.
In any event yours is much less labor intensive, obviously borne of experience. When we did a pig roast here, I started the fire around 8pm the night before and sat up until 2am feeding the fire (glad the beer held out) then my 'pig crew' came in at 4am and picked up from there at around 4am and I think they put the pig on at 8am or so. Served up on time at 2pm. But a wood fire is a lot harder to control and 'calm down' so we had some 'char' on that pig skin. Our lab layed under the cutting table and made a pig out of herself taking care of the 'drops'. She could barely walk for about 12-15 hours. :D :D Her coat had quite the sheen for a few days after too from all the fat that dripped on her.

Oh c'mon Jeff, this is the FF! :D I was wondering if you turn it by hand (kid power?) or use a motor. Gas or electric? If electric, is it 220 or 110V, gear reduction motor?, if so, what kind of grease do you use in the gearbox? Do you change the grease yearly? Do you use a lighter grease because of the radiant heat? There are lots of questions here, I mean, the details are important. ;D ;D :D :D It's something that we can debate and discuss until, like, November or so. :)
OTOH I could just wait a week and see for myself. ;D I guess I am just overly anxious to get there and hang out.

Well I doubt that's true, I am pretty sure a good little fire and a pot of coffee could keep us conversing for many hours, but I get your point none the less. I will come armed with many questions and would love to get a look at that funky little instrument you have for one thing. I'd like to see, if I can some of your artwork too, not the wood stuff, the 'other' stuff. You're an interesting family, so I will arrive with open eyes.

My attendance prizes arrived at the campground a few days ago, so at least those are already in the camper and I can't forget to bring them to Michigan.  I will arrive home from Branson on Sunday and leave for Michigan the next morning.  It's the first time I've taken the camper anywhere for just myself to use.

I am hoping to come early to help with the set up, and spend some time with all my friends.  our camper is getting work done and will not be ready, so I will be renting a sub for just me also.  I want to hang with the guys at the campground, and be able to see some sights, but also help with all the prep. that I know these sort of event entail.

That reminds me, @Jeff. The boss asked if we should bring a dish to pass. Some of us don't have far to travel, so if it would help, let us know....
