Diameter/Length/Weight Over the Visor Reference.
« on: October 26, 2006, 04:59:23 PM »
I worked this up from the tool box. I needed to have a reference to the amount of weight I was putting on my trailer. The species are Loblolly Pine, White & Red Oak for a 20 foot length. You also have a per foot you can multiply by your length. I laminated mine. I just didn't like operating by the SWAG method. (Scientific Wild A$$ Guess.)  :D Hope this helps somebody. Developed in Word. Chris.

Your cheat sheet is better than mine. :)  I like to know what I am hauling, too.  My truck is in such bad shape that I can't push it very hard.  I make sure that I am well under "towing specs".
I do what the little voices in my wife's head tell me to do.

Did you develope them from the Forum calculator?  Its important to know that your measurement of the log is at the midpoint, and not at the small end of the log.  It works on cubic foot volume, and not board foot volume.  The volume measurements are worked in different ways.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

I always calculate using the big end, which will net you a higher weight number.  I use this as a margin of safety.  but that's not practical if you are hauling any real volume.

Yes Ron, I did use the Forum Tool Box Weight Calculator. There is also one there for board foot weight. Chris.
