Husky Rancher 61 Side cover with chain brake needed.
« on: November 25, 2011, 09:26:49 PM »
Hello,
I need a clutch side cover with the chain break and all the parts. Very Early model 61 Rancher. It has a thick wire or Steel chain break lever. The cover is cream color I guess it could of been white at one time.
Thanks
Marty

I can get you a new orange one cheep. Or if you have one from a 272 it will fit. I will look and see if I may have a good used on

Call me if you still need one I think I have a few old 272s that should have a good cover on them. If not a new aftermarket one is only about $40 complete

Roger was calling yesterday. The parts are no longer available through Husky. Are you sure what you have will fit?

Roger said it must be older than 1982.
Serial # is 051606 which should make this unit a 1980
The top must be white not gray
part # is 501 2009-01 complete part
other part # make up the above #
501 4185-01 band
501 1807-01 spring
281 6192-01 washer
501 4193-02 bolt

thanks for checking.

I have one of those white top 61 ranchers with the the metal break handle.  I put a side cover from a 272 with the plastic handle on it and it seems to work ok i will have to check and make sure but now that I think about it the break is not inertia activated anymore.  the old metal ones had a thumbscrew that you adjusted close to the handle bar so if the anti vibe mounts flexed enough it would bump the break handle and activate the break.  I hope that made sense.  (it did in my head)
