Removing Spark Screens, Does it make a difference?

I live at 4000' elevation, but in the desert. We rarely get more that 10 inches on the ground at one time. Just a bit over in the Cascades there's 6 feet right now! :laugh:

back to the spark screens, I ran my leafblower the other night (stihl) to blow the snow off my truck before putting it into the shop.  I actually saw some sparks coming out of the exhaust.  I don't think that I would of seen them if it were daylight, but it did surprise me.
I cut it twice and it's still too short

I assume that does happen when the spark screen is taken out.
