Husky 66 brake cover.
« on: January 04, 2014, 11:12:43 PM »
I've got a Husky 66 and I need a new side cover with brake handle. I guess I could replace just the brake handle, but I think some of the bits and pieces went flying when I took it apart. :D Does anybody know what other saws are compatible with the 66? I emailed chainsawr about a complete used assembly listed for a 61 or 272 that he had to see if it would work and got a link to an aftermarket one for some other saw model. I'd rather just buy a good used one than an aftermarket one.

Only thing I have for a 66 is an owner's manual.
Too many chainsaws, not enough wood.
Stihl, Husky, Craftsman, Mac, Homelite, Poulan. Some live here, some just passing through.

You can use the cover from a Jonsereds 630 or 670 too. Good luck with your hunt!

If all models are from about the same time, the part numbers interchange - at least between 61, 66, 268 and 272 around 1990-93 - but there were different ones used on all models but the 66 trough the years.
Anyway, it was about complete clutch covers, so I assume even the late 61, 268, 272 one will fit the 66, even though it isn't listed in any 66 IPL...

If you are in need of a plastic handle, then it's easy to get. The metal brake handle used on the earlier saws is NLA, so if that's what was on your 66, then you'll need to buy a complete cover with the plastic handle.
