1974 timberjack 230 eaton winch not loading load

My 1974 230e skidder eaton winch slips while pulling a load
Any ideas would be appreciated

Tim you may just need an adjustment in the cylinder that holds or releases the drum.   Its on the right side if you were in the seat, right in front of the winch itself.   Have somebody work the winch control lever while you watch it move up and down and you'll see right away the nut you turn to adjust it. I'd do that first. Winch seals leaking any where?
