Took some finaggling but I was able to cut 1.25 inches x 24 inches x 24 feet VG clear more times than I though possible...Going to Whitehorse for paddlewheel boat restoration...for the life boats I think....

Very nice but what I really like is the fact that I have stood in that very spot on your sawing platform.  thumbs-up

Thanks. The two 41 foot X 5 foot WRC logs cost a smigin under 21,000.00 Canadian. Getting a great price for the boards but after log costs, the margin is not much better than cutting spruce bridge timbers. One serious negative surprise in the log makes for red ink fast...

The coastal wrc is beautiful wood but those lengths have to be hard to handle without damaging them.

No kidding. These logs were exceptional. No twist, very little butt shake and 24 feet long makes for minimal runout which makes the boards much stronger than I had thought. The customer asked us to drill a hole at the end of any checks we found..maybe 10 holes total on some of the shorter pieces....

WRC is a tough nut to crack.  In NW Oregon I have dabbled quite a bit in that as there is a lot of it in my immediate neighborhood, including I have some nice ones on my tree farm.  Problem is log quality, it is hard to find good logs, even on my trees, some real good looking 4' + dbh trees with minimum taper, on a couple still had carpenter ants in the butt, still a lot of good wood in the tree, but with bug tracks takes out the high grade cvg butt pieces.
