I start with the handle in the down position, but the handle will tend to move ... so a bunjee imobilizes it. 

Wavey wood is one thing, head drop is another.  If you are getting waves... thats different than losing dimension. 

make measurements WITHOUT wood... run it...  no wood...  see where it ends up

I'm going to hold off on that right now. I'm in the middle of changing out more parts on the track. Right now I should be able to fit a max log of 25" I think but the thinnest is a 3.5" so I'm going to build new cross supports. Then they will all be the same color & I should be able to both fit the 25" & cut down to a .5" board. I would also like to add rollers that I can jack up the log & move it.
