John Deere 640D

[Tree Burner]

Hello, I have a 640d grapple skidder that water has managed to seize the engine. The water came in through the exaust. Has anyone rebuilt these 6 cyl JD motors? If so any help on where to buy rebuild kits etc would be much appreciated. Also any other info is appreciated as this will be my first diesel engine rebuild. I have done several gas engines but never a diesel

 Kits aren't that bad, 14-1500 from top to bottom. I wouldn't buy much till you knocked the head off and see what your actually dealing with, you might be able to clean it up, you may need a head, you may need an engine, all depends till you get into it. That's probably one of the most common ? Deere engines, alot of them around.
