Its almost time again! Looking at the counter in the left column its only 47 more days!
RSVP is not mandatory for the Pigroast, but we always start a thread asking who is planning on coming or at least is going to try to be here so we can get an idea on planning supplies for the day. For some of our members, I know it needs to be a last minute decision to come and we can all understand that.
I'll start the count off for the Brokaw side of things. Tammy, Jeff, Stacy and Boy Friend Dylan, Jeremy and Girl Friend Kimmy and Pete and Lynda
thats 8 :) Please add to the total as you post.
I have a Heartwood workshop the week before, and the week after. Not going to make it this year either. :( 8
Surprise surprise. I'll be working again this year. >:(. Oh well, better than not working I suppose.
I wish, but just don't see it in the cards. :'(
Change the date to the second weekend and i'll be there.
This thread is not going in the right direction.
Yep, it needs to go backwards by a week. :D
Ok, Ok, Ok. I'll be the first. Add Bruce, the wife and daugther with 2 grandsons. That's 5. So its up to 13.
Bruce
Thats better! :) Looking forward to having you back Bruce!

18
just as long as Bob will actually talk to me this year :)
Count my wife and I in.
20
sorry to be the one to put the breaks on a nice upward trend...
My nephew decided Aug 2 was the perfect day to get married, so I will be in Chicago that weekend.
I would much rather be at the pigroast but the rath of my sister is not something I wish to experience. >:(
If she doesn't live in your house, you are immune.
at least that's how I look at anger from the female direction (even my mother!)
see you at the pigroast, Robert! ;D
I think the count has gotten off. I make to be 22 and not 20.
I did that to see if you were paying attention, Lee ::)
22
Dan was the one not paying attention.
Still 22
I plan to drag my carcass up there again if it is not too cold.
23
Looks like we will only need a half of cheesecake this year ;D ;)
The count is now 26
Because Stump Jumper Jr wil be on his way back from a canada canoe trip with a youth group.
Marcia and I if I am able.
28
I'll round it up to thirty
Jeff it does not look like we are gonna make it this year, just too much to do, so feel free to give away our prime camping spot this time around.
What a bummer...
Mary and I will make it 32
33.........I will be there to help WDH defend the real south........The not-so- fat Olde Elf...
We'll make it this year so that adds 5 for the grand total of
38
Just got the last of the garden in, so I hope I'll have tomatoes, cucumbers and hot peppers to make lots of Salsa.
Tim
I remember that Salsa. :)
Hopefully the fat olde elf and I will not be the only slow talking Southerners to hold down the fort.
I'm still waiting to see Dodgy and his Tux sign up. ;D
He qualifies as a slow talking Southerner, but I am not sure about the Tux :).

One has to pay the price ;D.
My mother's side of the family has planned a reunion for that Saturday ::) The planners asked her what weekend worked best for her, dad and us. She took the Flywheeler's Show the weekend before and my Grandmother's family reunion (which I enjoy), into account and never consulted us about our plans for the summer ::) I really don't want to go to the family thing, would MUCH rather go to Harrison but..... So it's still up in the air :-\ If I decide we can't make it for Pig on Saturday we'll be around for the Friday afternoon/evening festivities :) I'm not adding us into the count yet :)
Not to be picky, but the Google map on your profile puts you 120 miles north of Harrison. Is it a test to see who actually makes it there? Inquiring minds want to know. :P
???
Look at Wildflowers profile. Her's is where we live, mine is where my mind is most of the time.
120 as the crow flies maybe...

Nah, its early yet. From year to year many dont commit until the last two weeks or even the last week. I think our yooper pig eatin Poster Boy is awesome. ;)
Looking forward to shaking your hand Ty. :)
41 more days!
The Logrite clan will be coming minus two teenagers who are "too busy". However, to fill the space we will be bringing Captain and his son. So that makes 4 + 2 more for a total of 48.
Me + the future Mrs. Loner + 1 tuxedo = 50
I'm excited to be back at the Pig Roast this year, and I'll finally be taking that road trip through Ontario that I was planning last year. I'm glad I had to put it off a year since I'll have company this time. 8)
i am planning to make it a first for me, making it 51
Hey! About time the Michigan guys started weighing in. :) Uncle Kenn, feel free to bring someone along. :)
Wish I could but no go again this year. Will try next year.
Dave >:( too much on my plate this year smiley_hillbilly_tub_base
We should have the jtmccallum family back this year. 51+4=55.
The RavioliKid is planning on attending.
55 + 1 = 56
Peanut butter cookies will accompany me!
Peanut cookies ??? ??? ;D Whoa ;D. You probably do not remember me, but I am lookiing forward to seeing you again!
WDH,
I do remember you!
Wow! I remember something!
Looking forward to seeing you again.
I might be coming. There is a kiln drying class up in Minnesota that same weekend that I would like to go to so I'm trying to decide which way to go.
The news of those peanut butter cookies might have tipped the scales a little. ;D
I'll be in the very northern tip of Indiana during that time frame, close to Michigan City. It depends a lot on my friend's plans. So, +4 maybe....
That's only about 3 hours from us I'd guess. :) I'll add your 4 then and make the number
60
If it turns out you can't then we can use the dreaded minus. ;)
I would look forward to seeing you there, Radar! I hope you can make it :)
We'll be there. That should make it 62.
Shotgun and Mrs. Shotgun will be there. That makes 64.
Norm & Mary
I am thinking of trying to convince Amy we should go. Tell me, is there good shopping nearby? ::) If not this year, one of these years I definitely want to come.
Depends what you are shopping for. :) But knowing what it takes to get somewhere in Costa Rica to shop, yes, there is great shopping "near by" :)
I think you should come this year. :)

I think I should too but it is planting season. Maybe next year will work.

Herein lies the flaw. August is very busy for us and every year I think "better hang around to help, but next year they won't need me..." ::)
What Jeff needs to do it have it oh say in September or October when the temperature is more moderate and I have time open in my schedule... but then people's kids are in school. :(
We have it when we have it as the weather is a bit more stable the first of august and the odds of having good weather better. KNOCK ON WOOD
Me and son 67
Decision's been made. The Pig Roast it is 8) Greg, Dee, Zach, Zander for a new total of 71 8)

PS:did somebody say peanut butter cookies??
Hey Radar..............You can not be that close and not come to the roast!!!! ;D ;D ;D
Been lookin' to meet up with you for quite some time, it'll be worth the trip ;) ;)
Joan, Jill's comin' this year so she'll be glad to see you when I abandon her to talk with Radar :D :D :D :D
Hi Y'all, The missus and I are gonna plan on being there, looking forward to seeing people I,ve allready met and meeting the folks I,ve met on the forum, just not in person yet. 8)
Well, talked with the boss and she has authorized Hickory&Oak Sawmilling, LLC to take the day off and head up to the great white northern lands. We will be bringing some food-dont know what yet. 8)
We plan on staying at the private campground there right off the main road. Anyone else staying there (can't remember the name of it)?
Looks like the count is 72 and 73 with the Sunfields so me and Hana make it 75.
Hay thats great 8) 8) it will be good ta see ya again
What kind of weather (high and low temps, rain, etc.) should a southern boy expect during that time of year in Michigan? Chances are looking better every day.

Here's another view of what you can expect from Michigan's August weather. It'll likely be between 35 and 95 degrees, range from heavy clouds to clear blue skies, be anything from heavy rain to drought, and yes, you might even find snow here, as Jeff indicated. I have seen snow in the woods in July. When you leave home in Michigan you take clothing from heavy jackets to bathing suits, and every thing in between. If you can predict Michigan weather, you could be a billionaire.
;D
Norm
There will be skeeters!! smiley_bat_morph smiley_bat_morph smiley_bat_morph
Here is what we normally have that weekend for weather. Lows in the upper 60's at night, highs in the mid 80's and sunny. Skeeters should not be bad as we will fog for them on Wednesday. NOW KNOCK ON WOOD. I'm in da U.P. right now on a saw job believe it or not. Still a little sawyer left that has not been took over by geek. Took me 3 days to finally get connected to the forum though. Dang nextel/verison merger I think. I'll be bringing home some lumber and cedar poles to make some more pigroast tables. Be home Sunday.
So Jeff isn't out in Vegas with Burlkraft. Will look for some pics of sawing (and some Vegas pics too 8) ). :) :)
beenthere you posting in this thread cause your coming to the pig roast? ;)
Whats it going to take to get you over? ;D
Going to take moving the date of a family reunion in Iowa. ::) ::)
Tough to read about all the ones signing up that I'd like to see and/or meet. Many for the first time.
Send Corley5 a message. He'll explain to you how to remedy the family reunion conflict. :)
Me and cedarman are going to be coming to the pig roast and I was wanting to see if anybody from Wisconsin would be attending and could get a hold of some Spotted Cow beer from the New Glarus Brewing Company. It is only sold in Wisconsin. I would be more then happy to send a check for the amount to cover the cost. I would be looking for at least a case (24 bottles). You can send me an email with an address if this an option.
Thanks
Aaron
I would love to make it but with the baby only being 13 months old now a 12 hour drive would not be easy on her. I thought about takeing my other 2 kids also and stoping at holiday world also. makeing it a family vacation ya know. I would love to see the country side up that way. The wife told me to just fly and go by myself. but then i wouldnt get to look at nothing but clouds. maybe next year. If anyone wants to team up going by me let me know.

We are headed up to South Bend Indiana to stay with mother inlaw. Cedarman is picking me up there and we are headed up to the pig roast. At the time of travel we will be bringing our 12 month old and five year old. Our travel time will be around 16 hours from Stillwater. We made the trip to southern Indiana which is 11 hours in June with the boys and they both did fine. It seems to me that the more they travel when smaller the better they seem to do as they grow up. :)
We have made a few trips with her up to Cedarmans. Also she has been on on 4 to 5 hour rides also since she was born. Seems like anymore she hates getting in the car and going 30 miles. Well for mom she does for me she just sits there. :D
We brought the ice cream home with us from the U.P. for this years pigroast. This year its Blue Berry Pie Ice cream. Icey's job was to guard the cooler from me on the ride back.

I've got the some of the fixin's for the cheesecakes just have to get them made. 8) 8)
Need a vote on the toppings. Cherry, Blueberry, and Strawberry. So I know how many of which kind to bring.
I like all three, but you know my preference. ;D

Well, we are gonna put it to the test. The plan is to arrive sometime between 9 and 12 on Saturday and stay until Monday morning.
Cheesecake again! I can't wait ;D.
Terry, there ain't many pines up there, just mainly hardwoods. But it is cool and the company is nice :D.
Burlkraft,
That sounds great! 8) 8) I should be there along with Cedarman unless something unforseen happens.
QuoteTerry, there ain't many pines up there, just mainly hardwoods.
I think I can show you a whole lot of pine. Just not right here in Harrison. :) White Pine, Red Pine, Jack Pine are plentiful.
There are a few on the right side of the street you take to get to your street :).
I cant count those, that's just a dab. :)
Sometimes, just a dab will do ya. ;) :)
Yes, those are just brill pines :D.
Okay here is our scenario teeter_totter. We are all ready to come. Zack dose not have any football 8) Tom has vacation 8) and well Taylor and I are in the truck move_it. BUT we have a friend that has volunteered to mud and sand our upstairs project for FREE. So we are in the dilemma smiley_headscratch as to weather we ask him not to come out so that we can come or stay and get it done so we can get the kids up there after promising them for 2 years teeter_totter. So I am going to say + 4 smiley happysmiley but may need to say – 4 :( later.
Making a total of 81
I don't know where the picture is for sure, so this is good news. I'll find it if I have to though... ;)
Really, I do hope for you guys to stay on the + side. :)
I leave tomorrow for Harrison.
82
We'll be here! I've been painting resin chairs today, now another storm is here and I'm done for the evening.
The wife and I will be there with the dog.
Will the breakfast end at 6AM again this year? ;D
84
It'll start around 8 or so, long as Pete is on the ball. :) Kevin_H is taking the year off from breakfast duties to go to mouseville
What time is the Pig? I won't be there bright and early, other commitments prevent that.
Pig is usually sometime shortly after noon, and then, from then on. But really, its mostly up to da Pig. ;D
5 More Days!
I guess I can't back out now, just booked my room. :)
Where ya staying?

That sounds good Steve, but I may have to slip out and leave the family in the bed. :D :D
how far away is clare?
I need to make reservations yet....
about 15 minutes. Chet and Judy always stayed at the Bud Lake motel, and some stayed at the acorn. Only 1 and 2 miles away
well, crunching numbers and a sore back not sure of the ride has backed me out
83 :(
Packing the car as we speak, pulling out in the AM for Northern Indiana.
Everybody Drive careful!
Its officially close now. The Porta-Potty arrived this afternoon. :)
All Y'All have a great party. Rosanna and I have to host a wedding picnic for a niece. Maybe next year.
Everyone have fun....hope to make it one of these years...have a funeral to go to...close friend of the family
Leaving in the AM tomorrow :)
We have our First Arrivals. Spricebunny and DouginUtah are both here. :)
Erlinda and I are leaving at about 0430 in the morning.
Bruce
We are thinking of driving up on Friday night and getting a hotel. Plus Hannah and the stump jumpers have been making all kinds of plans, so we are trying to decide. In any case we will either be up on Friday night or Saturday morning. With salsa in hand.
Tim
I guess it's official, Judy and I ain't gonna make it. I gotta work. :( My very last hope of switchin' some days fell through last night. :'(

She's from the state of New England :P
I am currently 4 hours from the event. Will leave out early Saturday to arrive before the pig squeals.
The cookies are out of the oven! I've got ten dozen ready to go tomorrow.
See you soon!
I obviously ain't gonna make it again this year, but I spoke with WDH on the phone this morning. He was at the Atlanta airport, bound for the Piggy Roast! I told him to tell all of you HI for me, so if he don't do it, don't give him any cookies. ;D
He's here. :)
:( >:( :( >:( :( Well it is official Jeff you better start looking for that pic. We are not going to make it. My truck started acting up this week and I could not get it in to the dealer today so I guess we are drywalling this weekend. We really want to come but I am not dedicatied enough to make the trip with the 4 of us in a rag top Jeep. Next year is just around the corner now. >:( :( A sad day in the Doepker House!
Jeff or someone could you please tell Little Mrs Stump Jumper Taylor is really mad that we are not going to make it.
I am screaming "HI" to everyone in your honor, sir, everyone, so COOKIES for me!!
That "Mr. Click Me" hiding behind the "oink" must certainly be the Forestry Forum Center Fold for August 2009!! Surely that's the case. Always fun to take a look at him to see if he's still enjoying himself. Now we'll be looking for the Sept. issue. :D

No hurry to change it, Jeff. I sort of like checking in on Thee Bob once in a while to see if he might be making furniture, or turning a bowl, instead of just hiding back there licking his fingers. I really need more time to see if he does anything constructive there. :D
Norm
Not that I don't like seeing Thee Bob Pasbuild behind the tear-off, I'd vote for having to click on it, rather than have it tear back when just passing over it with the mouse pointer. Prolly just me thinks it should be in the upper right corner too. ;D ;D
There is a big reason technicaly why it dont go there, and you dont get a vote related to anything pig roast after all the no shows wasthere. ;D
The only thing that bothers me about it at all is its adjacency to the Back button. I kinda sorta get a kick out of Thee Bob kissing his fingers, but....
I don't know what would be involved in moving it to the other side of the screen, and don't know why it is in that particular corner, so I'll make no request. If it was in a different corner, I'd be an ever so slightly happier camper. ;)
It was in the top right corner before and it would unfurl when scrolling.
