Hi everyone,
I've been lurking here for years, but now I'm finally about to pull the trigger on a new mill, so it's time to finally register I guess. We live in rural New Brunswick where we are building a Permaculture based homestead. We have plenty of red maple, tamarack, birch, spruce, pine, fir and poplar on our land to keep a sawmill well fed.
The mill at the top of my list so far is the Norwood LM29. I have pole barns, equipment sheds, greenhouses, sheds... the list goes, there's lots of buildings that need building around here. I plan to work my way up in difficulty until I get good enough to build our new house.
Anyway.. that's all for now. Just thought I'd drop an intro in here. See y'all around!

Permaculturist, welcome to the forum. That mill will do just fine. I see you have a tractor? Will also need a cant dog or a peavey to turn the logs. Check out Logrite on the left. They sell a very nice tool.
Welcome to the Forestry Forum, Permaculturist
Congratulations on jumping onto a mill, you'll be in the dust soon!
Welcome, Permaculturist! Thanks for joining us.
Welcome Permaculturist, and happy sawing!
Hello Permaculturist, and Welcome to the Forestry Forum. 8)
Permaculturist, welcome to the forum. You'll be well pleased with the LM29, especially if you go with the big engine option. Lots of them out there, and Norwood is a great company to work with. Better add a chain saw to your list. We built our passive solar home in Missouri out of logs we milled from our property (over 30 years ago), and it was a great experience. Sounds like you have a lot of milling ahead of you. Keep us updated on your progress.

You are where we want to be when I retire. Our homestead will be in West Vigirina on top of a nice hill with great views. Please keep us posted on the mill(when you get it) and the progress of your homesteading. Oh yes, we love pictures!
