I'm not familiar with that exact model number, but I'm going to guess that it's an older version of what eventually developed into the 372xp. It may very well be a decent backup saw but I'm surprised that so many on this forum gravitate towards 15-20 year old saws. I can find 2-3 year old saws for sale for less than half of a new one, how much less is a 20 year old model?

thanks for the input and the link.i had no idea of its age.but the old guy that has it has kept it well. seems strong yet .he hasn't used it much .for 75 bucks i think ill buy it. my gut feeling is the saw has life left in it.
lol and hey i just changed a water pump in my old 68 1 ton and smiled the whole time doing it lol took all of 20 min doing it with room to work. sometimes theres value in older eqwipment. thanks again

rocky i agree with you if i could find a 2 year old 357xp in nice shape i'd be all over it! if you come across one could you get me some contact imformation, i'd sure apreciate it. can't find anything around here that isn't old or overpriced
                                         thanks in advance Ed

I had a 266 (very similar saw) over 20 years ago that i bought heavily used. I used it for about 6 years myself and sold it to my brother inlaw who used it everyday in a cut skid crew.  Great saws and hard to beat.  For $75 you're buying an investment !

I have one made in 1989 and I would buy a running one for $75 in a heartbeat.
Let's all be careful out there tomorrow. Lt40hd, 22' Kenworth Flatbed rollback dump, MM45B Mitsubishi trackhoe, Clark5000lb Forklift, Kubota L2850 tractor

That development ended with the 272xp - the 371/372xp is a totally different design.

To the OP; For a 268, it is very important if it is an se/xp/special, or the newer "plain" 268 with the open-port engine......
