I'm trying to do some tweaks that might take care of the issues we have been having with page hangs and such. In order to do that, it means at times you will have to choke a bit on the dust. ;)  There was just a big one a few moments ago.

Jeff,

Lately when I post a reply on a thread it may be a minute or two wait for it to go through instead of a second or two. Is this because of the ongoing work you're doing?

Nope, it sounds like that might be on your end. Actually, the forum has been a bit quicker then normal.  Here is a way to tell if it was on this end, or a lag on your end.  Go to the bottom of the page after it loads and look at the time returned for the page to be returned after the inquiry. Its stamped on the bottom of every page. For instance this page was created in 0.129 seconds.  I'll post this can check the time, and then record that.

It might be on my end Jeff, I don't know. If I'm just reading pages, not posting, I can go almost instantly from one page to another. It's just when I post that I have problems. That could be a good thing though. It'll give me more time to think about what I'm saying. ;)

That time it was almost instantaneous. I bet it's a problem on my end.

Jeff, I just read this thread, and got this when I went to another thread:
Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.
I closed my browser, re-opened and every thing seems to be working fine now

It was because I had edited the mysql my.cnf file and was in the middle of restarting the database server. :)  Part of the tweaking process. :)
