the metal with holes in it that covers the air channel has broken and bent a part of the cover inward (see pic).  This caused the air channel to become totally clogged solid. Cant get far enough behind the plate to clean out.  I am thinking that the cover will need to be removed to gain access to the channel to clean it, then a new cover plate welded in.

The unit is 6 years old.  Maybe time for a new one?

Is the picture showing the stainless steel angled plate that is removable for cleaning? I have a 2014 CB 2400 and doesn't appear from your pictures to look similar. I use a very stiff wire and an air compressor with a shop vac and so far cleaning the air channel is doable.

I was told my coal bed was too deep generating so much heat it warped the air channel plate.  I have a replacement kit from CB - E-Classic 2400 Air Channel Insert - that came from the dealer.  it includes cutting out the existing channel and slipping this insert in on both sided.  I have a friend who's a welder so we are installing them this month.
