Sounds like maybe a chestnut oak. White oaks usually have rounded tips where reds usually have pointed tips

Or chinkapin oak. The leaf has large pointed teeth.   Looks like chestnut oak with sharper pointed teeth.

I have Virginia Tech Tree ID and PlantNet (android phone) I've had better luck checking the 2 against eachother. I've also tried I think it was leafsnap, very similar to plantnet but it had some kind of bug at the time and was killing my battery so I deleted it.

Just send a picture to WDH! :)  Guaranteed accurate. 8)

A good friend recommended leafsnap so I installed it on my phone.  I asked my friend if he doesn't know the species and leafsnap tells him, how does he know if the app is right?  He answered back I was being too technical! :D  I think he is one of those millennials.  They know it all. :o

I am wondering what this tree is, I was told bur oak. Not sure if he is right.
This is in southern Saskatchewan.  Near the North Dakota border.

Looks like Burr Oak, rj.
It makes good timber for timberframing.
Good to see you posting again - finished with highway trucking for the winter ?
