I have Staghorn Sumac around my yard and one has galls attached to the underside of the leaves. I broke one open and there was a bunch of tiny amber colored things that look like aphids. Any of you guys know anything about it? The sumac is good for birds that eat the seeds and deer and rabbits browse it in winter.

Sounds like it might be the Sumac Gall Aphid.  I didn't know, so I looked it up.  From what I read it will cause some early discoloration and shedding of leaves, but no major worries.
