Title: Newbie member sawyer from southern quebec
Post by: dukethebeagle on March 24, 2021, 08:46:33 PM
Hey all,just checking in.
Decided to join to share some of my experiences with others
Been sawing on a lane automatic carriage for 10 years now.
Running a 48 inch 36 tooth tooth simmonds saw.
Saw mostly poplar cants for pallet production
But saw also blocking and other stuff
Also run a 32 tooth 48 inch simmonds also
I really like that saw
I live on the vermont quebec border.
I am 42yrs old with three brats
So anyway just a bit about myself and hope to contribute
Happy sawing

Thanks all for the kind welcome.
Its my day job.
We saw roughly 1000000  feet of logs per year
On a circular in our shop thats chugging along
I work for a family pallet buisiness and got stuck being the sawyer
Not to bad till breakdowns start.
We saw about 7000 to 9000 feet of logs a day
And yes today was a good day

Bienvenue. Interesting to see your set-up with circular saw. FF is a very interesting place to exchange, a lot of top guns

Welcome to the forum.
Whatcha been doing with all the lumber?
Today i sawed 8 foot into cants which are butted in half to make 48 inch 2x4
They are then run through a baker 3 head resaw then deduster and stacked.
I also sawed 6x6x8 foot blocks for granit blocking
This all happens at the same time
In order to make less slabs
The log rolls on,then i slab it on all four sides to the size we need.
The i split the cants
All the slabbs are run through the resaw.
The whole process goes fast on a 10 to 12 inch log
Usually 30 to 45 seconds
We buy all sizes of logs, but that diameter really works well for high volume
