Title: Stupid geese
Post by: Quartlow on October 04, 2006, 05:51:29 PM
I wish they would move on. Not so bad when they where just out in the pasture but they are getting braver every day. Today they where outside the wood shop. The dogs ran em off three times now. maybe sooner or later they will get the hint  :D

:D :D Don't like stepping amongst the goosy goo ? ;D One of them high flut'n long knecked buzzards took flight from Ralph's pond this fall and struck the side of the house and broke it's kneck. Couldn't get enough lift I guess, and cah wango. Ralph thought a truck struck a power pole out by the road, shook the house so. :D :D

Wifey won't eat em, says they are city geese.  I said that when they fly to the country and the hunter shoots them, he don't know where it's from.  Why's it gotta be a city goose????

I have geese and duck problems too.  I rent my shop and another person rents the old farm house there.  She has pets- ducks, geese,  horses, dogs, cats, and chickens.  Used to have a goat too!  Anytime I go out and leave the door open the birds get in there and poo all over.  I started putting some corn and water out about 50 yards from the shed- now they hang out there instead of in front of my door.  If they were wild I'd be eating them.  She got rid of the goat after the landlords dog got to chasing it and it jumped over me and my welder one day when I was working outside the door.  Old billy hit the window in my door and cut his head pretty bad plus scared the bejeebers out of me.  bye bye billy.  Landlords dog has a shock collar now too!

Try firing the shotgun in the air or maybe a safer direction.  Around here geese do not like the sound of gunfire.  Heck just for the fun of it hollar bang loudly around here during the season when a low flying flock goes over head and you literally scare the [I have typed a profane word that is automatically changed by the forum censored words program I should know better] out of them as they back peddle in mid flight.  Do it just as they pass cause if you are a little early you will be dodging a shite shower. ;D

Well apparently they didn't like the dogs chaising them yesterday, they stayed on the pasture side of the fence all day. Dogs won't go in the pasture since they are afraid of the cows   :D  :D

Best way to prepare goose:

Remove the neck at the body, grab the breast with one hand, and the neck and rest of body with the other, pull apart across your chest.  Cut away flesh/meat at end of the breast.   Throw away everthing that was with the neck and body.  Clean off the breast meat. Grill over open flame to get rid of fat.

Flying carp.

I get so many up in the horse pasture sometimes they intimidate the horses away from the feed. I can't drive down the road without stopping several times. DanG things won't even fly out of the way, they just slowly waddle to the side. I figure on a good day I lose 10 to 15 lbs of feed to them.
