Can you please point me to resources I can use to educate myself:
1. Classes (in Raleigh, NC area)
2. Must-have books
3. Anything else I need to read/Watch?
I want to build a pavilion and eventually a cabin.
Thanks.

For books, look up Jack Sobon and Steve Chappel's Timberframer books. Lots of great information in them. For design inspiration, look at Ted Bensons.

Jim Rogers teaches classes usually once a year or so.

What part of Raleigh are you in? I'm in New Hill, about 30 miles SW.

Ted Benson's Building the Timber Frame House was my best resource when I was getting started.

As you don't say if your starting from no wood knowledge, or some or even a lot- it's harder to answer. For an e.g, if you were an experienced carpenter that's much different than a pure start from scratch. But, of course the posts provided above still stand.
Lots of schools out there posted online if you use the correct search terms. if you have time to burn you might become free help to a builder?
Honestly, I can't find paid help... ;D
