Congrats and may you both share many happy days ahead. If he's gonna be a mill dog you might as well teach him to fetch using an old tape measure so you can get some use out of him. :D

(I heard Tom/OGH got a dog and was teaching to to fetch using a beer can. It was working great till the dog bit too hard and punctured the thin aluminum can, liked the taste and after that all Tom ever got was empty cans and the dog is in rehab right now. I think he named him Purple but just called him perp for short.)

You can name him "Forum" and just call hill "Rum" for short. (Okay, back to my cage again. I never get no respect around here. ::))

Bruno, my wife (Veterinarian) recommends Bravecto as a good tick preventative treatment for Piney.  She uses it on our own dogs.

She says either Bravecto or Frontline Gold for cat's.  Not sure about old goats though... perhaps you should ask @POSTON WIDEHEAD ?!

I had my dog Timber neutered at 5 months old. the vet told me then, 13 years ago they could do it earlier and it really does make a better dog. He is called the marathon dog in the neighbourhood as he has never been tied up and roams all around the lake. Mainly looking for kids to play with as they will throw a ball for hours with him.
Maybe Scotts wife could chime in here.

Nice looking pup there. Looks like the (good) neighbours 2 dogs. Of course their "smarts" run to finding holes in the fence and visiting to check the cat food bowls in our kitchen.  :D  But they are nice dogs. so it's not a problem. Give them an ear scratch and take them home.

I've been feeding Cedar twice a day, along with Harley. Cedar's food was half puppy food and half what Harley eats, now that he is 6 months, we switched him to a third puppy food 2/3s the adult food.

I'm waiting until cedar is over a year old. I want as much testosterone as possible there to build muscle and size especially to try and prevent things like hip issues later in life. We have been feeding the same foods to our dogs for many years, Sawyer was the first to die at less than 12 years old. The aussiies lived to 16 and 17.

We've been feeding twice a day, he's eating more than the pair of old dogs were. He's also way more active. He heard the coyotes a couple of nights in a row over the weekend, and had to let everyone know. He went to play at some friends the other day, first smile since the stroke, they do the big work :).

customsawyer

Great looking pup. I fed Chief the puppy food until he was almost a year old, then switched to adult. Don't know if that was the right thing to do or not. Had someone suggest about getting him fixed. I still think of him being in his teenage years and I feel he is a little young to get fixed. Open to advice from those that know more than me. He also is about as friendly of this breed that I have ever seen and part of me would like to get up with another heeler owner and get some pups out of him. See if the traits are passed on.
