Jerry Nevins of WoodHenge sent me some pictures of a front porch and gables he did last fall.  We supplied all the timbers - including the trumpet based posts for the front porch.   I searched our woods for a half a day looking for two posts about the same size that were the right size for the job and with big butt flairs.  Jerry said the project turned out well and the owners were very pleased.

The gables were done in ERC that we sawed for the project.

The bad news is,  Derek (son) has left the family business and went back to a "regular job" in Kansas City.  Jerry has finished up a few projects but was really wanting to retire.  Jerry talks like he'll not take on any large projects or anything out of the area.  He's been making some heavy furniture using the methods he's used to build timber frame structures.  He's built a coffee table out of some of the cedar left over from the above project.

I'm sure we'll still do some business but it won't be the same scale as before.  :-\
