Rot resistant dry 8/4 lumber needed
« on: February 19, 2015, 10:00:09 PM »
I am a member of a non-profit railroad museum, and we are in the process of restoring a 2-6-2 steam locomotive and tender that was manufactured by Vulcan in 1927.

For the tender restoration, we need approximately 20' of width of 10' long DRY 8/4 rot resistant boards, such as black locust, Osage Orange, etc., to go between the frame and the tender body.  I don't have enough KD white oak on hand (other than quartersawn, and that's a bit precious to use for this project), and so I'm seeking a source for some dry black locust 8/4 lumber that we can use for this project.

If any FF members have some dry 8/4 black locust for sale and you don't mind shipping via truck freight, please send me a PM or email.
