As always this time of year is a real treat to be spending time in the bush.  The songbirds are active and everything is springing to life.  Today I was cruising some potential harvest blocks.  I was driving a side road with my 4 wheeler and noticed a doe deer acting quite strange and staying very close to the road.  When I returned a short while later there was a fawn on the side of the road struggling to get up.  It couldn't have been more than a few hours old.  I drove on by slowly and only a few minutes later did I remember I had my phone in my pocket.   I was going to go back for some pictures or video but decided it may distress the mother and fawn too much.  Only a few of us are fortunate enough to see something as precious as that.
Lots of toys for working in the bush

Similar experience just two days ago, when out back. Dumped some brush and then noticed a doe in my walnut field of about 3-4 acres.
Drove a ways away, and watched her as she went back to tending a new fawn.

It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others
