I'm looking at this F550 dump bed truck.  It's a 2007 with a 6.0 power stroke.  I always said I wouldn't own a 6.0, but I may change my mind.  It's got 180,000 miles.  The bid is at $3,800 right now, but I expect it will go up tomorrow.  It'dbe nice to have....not have to drive my really nice truck when I'm all sweaty and dirty after getting logs.  I doubt I'll get it, but who knows.

Truck does look good. But looks don't keep it running good either. :)

07 was a short year. only a few months for ford trucks. so the 08 6.4 could come early. o7 was the last yr in the f series for the 6.0 but was still used in the e series. egr coolers were the weak point. they leak coolant motor burns it that lifts the heads. bad things happen. egr problems are not just a ford thing they all had it. if it has 180k on it its been taken care of.

Another thing that concerns me is that I think it was used to spread salt in the past.  The frame looks quite rusty in other pics.  I'm gonna go look at it today.  I hadn't thought about 07 being the last year for the 6.0.  I had an 08 with a 6.4,but it was a late build in 08.  Bought it still new in 09.

The 08 6.4 F550 the town highway truck I used to plow with a few yrs ago burned up 2 yrs ago because of the exhaust burn off B.S. I was alway scared of it when it started smoking when it was burning the exhaust out.

I'm going to pass on this truck.  Timing will not work with the auction site.  I'd have to pick up tomorrow or the next day and I have to work both days.  Oh well, I'll keep my eye out.  Thanks for replies.

I keep some dropcloth around to cover the seat in the nicer vehicles when I'm dirty.  Cheaper than tags for a 2nd vehicle.  ;)

All kidding aside, check with your car insurance carrier to see if they will cover an F550 before proceeding.  Will likely require either farm or commercial coverage in Missouri...  I got a lot of hassle with my IH S1900 even with farm coverage through Farm Bureau.   >:(

I wouldn't worry too much about the engine if it's still going after 12 years but the salt concerns me. Probably best to let it become someone else's problem.

Good thought.  I hadnt thought about whether they would cover it.  I've been trying to find a decent seat cover, but I can't find something decent that works with airbags.

Have you checked out marathon seat covers we put them on all our vehicles
They fit very tight and can be removed to wash .
I do not know if they fit ford trucks but we just got a set for our ram 3500

I think so, but I'll check again.  It's good to hear a recommendation.  Thanks.

Why'd you sell the 08 with a 6.4?  I just picked up one, has some front end issues, ac compressor out..otherwise ok.
