Should guide bearings build up heat?

Short answer, yes. But what are calling heating up, warm to the touch or blistering to the touch?  

Home built or factory built?
Rated speed of bearing installed, sealed or require greasing, type of grease, under or over greasing can causing higher than normal temps.
