On another forum I follow a poster was having trouble with his chain coming off the bar periodically, and another poster said to make sure that he did not have a mixup of metric vs imperial bar and chain.
I have never heard of metric chains or bars, and I can find no mention of them here or elsewhere on the web. Do they exist?

Not that I'm aware of. They may be marked metric for local convenience, but will be the same dimensions as stated in imperial measure.

Yeah, because no matter how you look at it, it's all the same stuff, just look at some of the posts from joe info.
I think all the Stihl stuff is metric, but converted on paper to increments we Americans can understand (accustomed to). the sharpening charts are primarily written in English (for US venders) using metric numbers.
