Jonsered 2141 & 2152 Hi RPM?
« on: November 26, 2008, 06:52:49 PM »
Can anyone tell me what the High speed RPM is supposed to be set for on a Jonsered 2141? It's a 2001 model, s/n 01 1201327, if that makes any difference.

I'd also like the same info on the Model 2152.

If looked in the owners manuals, but the info is not there. It has idle RPMs but not max. The tilton/jonsered web site only has the owners manual, identical to the print manual I have.

Is there any place to find this info on-line? I kaven't been able to find it (yet).

You should be safe around 13.000 rpm no load, 9600 under load.

Thanks.

I'm playing with a new tach, and looking for an excuse to use it. It made a big difference on my 357xp. It was tuned for 12,500 or so. I took it up to 13,500+.

John  Be carefull with 13500 + , you'll be posting on how to fix a burned cylinder and piston. Most of my saws cut faster in bigger wood with a little richer mixture.  Steve

The 357xp is rated for 14,000 RPMs. I had some advice here to set it right for 14,000 and go. I figured I was already being a bit conservative by setting it a little rich at 13,500-13,600. I knew the 2141 an 2152 wouldn't survive long up that high (if they'll even get there), but I figured the 357xp would be OK since it's rated for higher. I know I was disappointed with it at 12,500.

Finally found the ratings in print. The Husky web site has them in the product descriptions. Jonsered does not have them in the on-line descriptions, but does have them in a catalog I had kicking around at home. (These specs are for current production models, so it's still nice to double check on the older ones I have.)

.....

2152 is max 13000rpm, believe the 2141 is 12500.

Does it make a difference if I'm bucking firewood vs felling trees? When I'm bucking, it spends a lot more time actually running. As long as it's safe, I'll tweak it up a bit higher and see how it runs.

Still puzzling why the dealer I took it to for the once-over would have set it to 12,500.
